Subject outline
Humanities/SOSE is designed to establish a knowledge and skill-base for pre-service teachers in curriculum, pedagogy, planning, assessment and reporting in secondary-level Humanities (Levels/Years 7-10). The subject will facilitate and support pre-service teachers developing understandings of contemporary theory, concepts and skills in The Humanities. Pre-service teachers will be supported to consider, demonstrate and reflect on theoretically-, pedagogically- and research-informed professional understanding of Secondary Humanities concepts, issues and developments, assessment requirements and practice, safety responsibilities, application of learning technologies, and resources. Theoretical concepts, pedagogical principles, state and national curriculum frameworks will be examined and applied across the learning activities.

02. Locate, evaluate and design effective, engaging and inclusive teaching, learning and assessment resources (including digital technologies, used safely, responsibly and ethically) for secondary Humanities, appropriate to state and national curricula; Justify ideas and approaches against curriculum, pedagogy and theoretically- and research-based knowledge.

- Develop understanding among pre-service teachers of effects of appropriately using learning tools. This will be drawn from pre-service teachers' experience in addition to subject materials and assessment

Plan, design, evaluate and justify a cohesive, pedagogically-appropriate teaching, learning and assessment sequence within secondary Humanities curriculum requirements; Incorporate a variety of teaching, learning and assessment strategies, catering for differences in student learning styles and abilities, integrating general capabilities, cross-curriculum priorities, literacies and numeracies, and digital technologies in The Humanities safely, responsibly and ethically.
