Workplace Volunteering

OPPORTUNITIES

Your group may undertake volunteering tasks in one or two of the following areas.

Nursery

We produce over 150,000 indigenous plants a year and we couldn't do it without help from volunteers! In the nursery you may assist us with sorting seeds, propagating plants, weeding and other general nursery maintenance tasks

Land Management

Help our land management team to improve and maintain the habitat within the Sanctuary. Tasks may include revegetation work, track repair, rubbish collection or invasive plant control.

Water Testing

Get your hands dirty by assessing the water quality of one of the Sanctuary's wetlands. You will collect and identify aquatic macroinvertebrates and test for abiotic factors to help us monitor the health of the sanctuary's wetland system.

Fungi Foray

Only possible during fungi season (May-July). Head out into the sanctuary to search for mushrooms and other fungi. Participants will need to bring their own phones and have downloaded the iNaturalist app to participate.

Skilled groups

If your group has a particular skill or area of interest, we'd love to hear from you.

The Nangak Tamboree Wildlife Sanctuary is not a zoo or wildlife park, we cannot offer any opportunities involving direct animal handling.

VOLUNTEERING CONSIDERATIONS

Date availability

Corporate/group volunteering sessions are available on Mondays and Fridays only.

Tasks

Though you provide task preferences during application, opportunities are project or seasonally dependent. As such, tasks available to volunteer groups vary throughout the year and are open to change at our discretion based on the Sanctuary's needs.

Accessibility

Let us know if any members of your group have accessibility requirements or special needs that they would like us to to be aware of. Many tasks can be adjusted to make them more accessible. If you would like to discuss what is involved with the different tasks available, get in touch with us!
