FAQ Aspire Early University Study

An early conditional offer is an offer to say you have a place reserved for you in the course you’ve applied for, but you will still need to meet any entry requirements that are outlined in your offer.

These entry requirements will depend on the course you have applied for and your method of entry.

Yes! You can apply for all Aspire programs you’re eligible for to increase your chances of getting an early conditional offer.

However, there are different requirements for each of the program, so make sure you check that you meet the requirements.

Micro subjects are short university preparation subjects. They provide discipline specific knowledge while teaching tertiary level academic skills.

Each micro-subject consists of approximately 50 hours of learning (including time spent doing assessments) spread over six weeks.

Students taking the course fulltime (3 units in a year for VCE, or 6 units in a year for VCAL) undertake their units as set out below. Alternatively, students may choose to stagger the program across two years in a different configuration, as long as they begin with the relevant introductory unit(s).

You’ll study your Aspire Prepare micro-subjects across the school year. (If you are unsuccessful in one (only) subject you’ll be able to try again later in the year.)

Students taking the course fulltime (3 units in a year for VCE, or 6 units in a year for VCAL) undertake their units as set out below.

Alternatively, students may choose to stagger the program across two years in a different configuration, as long as they begin with the relevant introductory unit(s).

First semester commences on 27 February 2023 and second semester on 31 July 2023.

Your study will be 100% online, so your La Trobe study works alongside your Year 12 subjects.

If you don’t receive an offer to study through the Aspire program, don’t worry – you’ll still be considered for entry via the normal VTAC process during round one in January if you received an ATAR.

At La Trobe, we believe a great indicator of how you’ll succeed at uni is how well you do in our university programs for school students.

We’ve looked at the performance of numerous students in our pathway programs to allocate a score associated with future performance in degree programs compared to other students.

Our La Trobe Entrance Score can then be matched to the rank you may receive for school studies. The table below shows what average grades you need in your Aspire Prepare and Aspire Advance studies to gain a La Trobe Entrance Score.
