Elite athlete ATAR adjustment
La Trobe University recognises the unique needs of students who participate and compete in sport at an elite level. We are committed to providing elite athletes assistance and support in successfully combining their academic and sporting pursuits.
Eligibility and how to apply
If you're a prospective domestic student, you can apply for an ATAR adjustment of up to five aggregate points by:
- demonstrating how your sporting commitments have impacted your previous studies and educational performance
- providing supporting statements from your secondary school and your coach or high performance/pathways manager
- applying for your preferred La Trobe courses through VTAC as per VTAC course application timings
- completing the online application form
Eligibility for an ATAR adjustment doesn't automatically lead to an offer of a place; you'll still be required to meet the course prerequisites and additional requirements, and compete for a place on the basis of academic merit.
After you apply
You'll receive an email confirming receipt of your application. If you meet the eligibility criteria, both your ATAR adjustment and VTAC applications will be considered by a selection committee to determine if the bonus points will be applied.
If your application is successful, you'll be advised after VTAC offers are released in January.
Continue your sporting and academic success with LEAP
If your application for an ATAR adjustment based on your sporting ability and commitments is successful, you may also be eligible for the La Trobe Elite Athlete Program (LEAP). This unique program helps to identify, promote and support the needs of elite athletes studying at university.
