Credit points: 15

Subject outline

In this subject, the anatomical principles covered in PAM2LIN, PAM2TUL and PAM3HANwill be applied to the detailed study of the thoracic, abdominal and pelvic anatomy as well as introductory principles of impact biomechanics. Topic materials will be presented face-to-face and online through lectures, video clips and worksheets, but you are responsible for your own learning through supported practical activities including examination of appropriate cadaveric material. You will develop specialised cadaveric dissection skills through a group dissection research project. Emphasis is placed on the application of anatomical principles to reinforce how structure relates to function.

Intended Learning Outcomes

01. Independently source, assimilate and appraise anatomical principles relating to thorax, abdominal and pelvis anatomy as well as introductory principles of impact biomechanics.
02. Independently source, evaluate and synthesis knowledge of anatomical principles relating to the human visceral anatomy and concepts of injury to anatomical structures.
03. To critically analyse and appraise relevant literature pertaining to the anatomical region to be dissected and develop an effective experimental protocol and effectively communicate anatomical information in written and oral formats to peers.
04. Effectively communicate anatomical information in written and oral formats to peers.
05. Work independently and as part of a team to perform an anatomical dissection and analyse, interpret and appraise findings from the anatomical dissection research project .
