Subject outline

This subject will prepare students to better understand their client groups in the area of family violence, and the broad issues that impact safety and wellbeing and hence delivery of quality services. Students will build on and integrate the core theoretical practice knowledge, skills and values learnt throughout the course and required for ethical and efficient practice response at entrance level in either direct or indirect family violence practice settings.

02. Apply the ACWA Professional Code of practice and ethical standards in the delivery of family violence interventions

Activities:

03. Conduct risk assessments based on the Victorian Family Violence Risk Assessment and Risk Management Framework (CRAF)

Activities:
Weekly reading materials. Online Exam and complete the multidimensional CRAF assessment.

04. Implement and review safety plans and other relevant interventions to support women and their children

Activities:
Weekly reading materials, online videos and lectures overviewing the complexity of managing risk and safety of those experiencing family violence. Activities - Exam / Online presentation - will provide an analysis and evaluation of risk mitigation models with consideration of the potential social, cultural, political challenges and efficacy in response to family violence.
