Subject outline
In this subject students study biological and psychological evidence and associated ergonomics principles concerning human capacities and limitations relevant to the design of equipment and 'plant', work tasks, workstations and the physical workplace environment. Specific topics include: anthropometry, work postures and movements, static and dynamic loads, metabolic and cardio-respiratory capacities, and human perceptual and information processing performance characteristics. The aim is to understand some of the key ergonomics requirements to achieve effective work performance and good occupational health and safety outcomes.
