The aim is to give engineering students a sense of what is required to start up and operate a business. Marketing, legal and management principles are taught, leading to the application of these in developing a business proposal.

The knowledge gained in 12 marketing lectures is then applied in an individual assignment and in developing a group business plan.

Knowledge is gained in 8 legal principles lectures and applied where appropriate in the business plan.

03. Analyse and interpret the business and economic environment within which engineers operate to formulate business and marketing strategies.

Activities:
2 lectures deal with the business environment and strategy formulation; this is then expanded and built upon in subsequent marketing lectures. The knowledge is applied in the assignment and business plan.

Regular team meetings are held to develop the business plan resulting in a team presentation and a written business plan.

05. Write a clear, concise and well-structured business plan and deliver an engaging and persuasive oral presentation.
