In this subject students develop a deeper understanding of the various historical, social, educational and economic developments which have formed the contexts for education in its current form. The subject is structured around the following themes: The Context of Schooling; Psychological Perspectives including Mental Health and Well Being; Becoming a Professional.

Graduate capabilities & intended learning outcomes

01. Students will consider curriculum and resources associated with the schooling in the current contexts of education

Activities:
Students will develop and present a portfolio which is evidence of learning and experiences associated with teaching. Material associated with this portfolio is gathered across all the experiences of the program including intensives, participating in assessment, fieldwork and practicum.

02. Students will consider the contexts of teaching and focus on current issues which impact on teaching as a career. As part of this process students will examine theories of learning and a range of philosophical thinking which has been influential in shaping the current context of education

Activities:
Students will engage with the online module and create a fully developed philosophy of education essay. The content of this essay is a reflection of material contained in EDU4IMA and B plus workshops during the intensive.
