Subject outline

Community and Public Health Nutrition builds on prior learning from DTN4NTC. In this subject you will be able to put your knowledge and skills in food and nutrition policy, nutrition education, and food and nutrition program planning, into practice. You will critically evaluate community and public health organisations involved in the delivery of health care. You will develop skills to enable you to actively participate, as a health professional, within such organisations. Through understanding client/consumer needs and rights, you will be able to strategically plan to address food and nutrition issues, through policy and programs that incorporate a safe, adequate and nutritious food supply, nutrition education and advocacy. You will undertake a five-week placement practical, within a community and public health organisation, where you will complete a project related to the points above.
