Subject outline

This subject offers intensive cultural and social immersion programs to Chinese language students, in conjunction with the Australia-China Student Forum run by the La Trobe University Confucius Institute. Both non-background students and overseas-born Chinese students are encouraged to apply. Students will participate in a pre-departure program in Melbourne, and in a 2-week in-country component. The latter comprises compulsory participation in the Australia-China Student Forum (ACSF) and cultural tours in China. Successful applicants will receive scholarships to cover the costs of pre-departure Chinese language classes and the in-country component of the subject.

Field TripWeek: 40 - 41
One 10.0 days field trip per study period on weekdays during the day from week 40 to week 41 and delivered via blended.
"Students will visit local communities, universities, government organizations and industries, and immerse in a real Chinese language environment during their tour. Upon return to La Trobe University, students will complete a learning portofolio to critically delineate and summarize their experience, followed by a group presentation on contempoary Chinese culture and society. As part of the Australia-China Student Forum, they will also engage in the face-to-face disccusion with local Chinese students."
