Credit points: 15
Subject outline
In this subject, students will examine the main characteristics of organisational structure, and its importance to the efficient and effective operation of modern organisations. We will compare and contrast the various organisation design options that are adopted by different kinds of organisations. Students will draw on theoretical models, academic research and current business practices to investigate the various factors that influence the selection of an appropriate organisational design, which includes the nature of the business environment, the purpose and goals of the organisation, the technology employed by the organisation and the impact of organisational size. Students will undertake case studies and organisational analyses to illustrate the application of organisation theory principles and advance their analytical skills.
