2017
Credit points: 15
Subject outline
In this subject, you will focus on contemporary human resource management and employee relations issues within the context of developing high performance work systems. You will critically investigate the importance and impact of high performance work systems on employee relations, as well as trade union and non-trade union approaches. Within a high performance work systems framework, we will analyse the importance of work-family balance, labour market flexibility, precarious forms of employment, job security and pay-for-performance. You will also examine high performance work systems from labour process theory and critical management perspectives. Both private and public sector cases will be used to demonstrate the practice and challenges of building high performance work systems.
