Subject outline

This subject allows students to participate in a placement at an organisation undertaking legal work, such as a law firm or government department, while concurrently undertaking academic study. Students may apply for placement opportunities organised by the Law School or apply on the basis of a self organised placement. Self organised placements must be approved by the Coordinator, must be unpaid and not in an organisation where the student has worked or is currently working. Students have regular classes both face to face and on line in which they study communication skills, technology and the law and issues relating to the future of the legal profession, diversity in the profession and legal ethics. Students also share their practice experiences and use their placement experience to discuss modes of lawyering and critically analyse the legal system in operation.
