ASSESSMENT AND INTERVENTION IN SPEECH PATHOLOGY CLINIC

Subject outline

In this subject students will begin to apply their theoretical knowledge to clients and their carers. Students will participate in both an adult and paediatric placement. Placements will either be run over 6 full days or 9 half days, both as one visit per week. Students will complete these placements in various agencies around Melbourne, Bendigo and some other rural settings. Bundoora students' paediatric placements will take place within the La Trobe Communication Clinic, over 9 half days (1 per week), while other placements will be 6 days over 6v weeks. Pass criteria for this subject is Novice level across a range of clinical competencies. In addition to clinical placements, students will complete several hurdle assessments, including commencement of their Professional Competency Portfolio (PCP). All students are required to attend the subject orientation lecture (calendar week 24) and a session planning workshop (week 29).
