In this subject inexperienced teachers of English as a second or foreign language are introduced to the basic structure and usage of English. The subject covers aspects of English phonology, syntax, discourse and other aspects of language in use as they relate to the teaching of English.

07. Develop an initial understanding of how a knowledge of English relates to theories about English language and the teaching of English

Activities:
As a part of developing an understanding of language, students will participate in multiple short answer quizzes (Assessment 1). Questions can be answered in multiple ways, depending on the teacher's theory of language and language teaching. The answers and the reasons behind them form an integral part of class discussion.
