Subject outline
In this subject pre-service teachers develop a range of skills and knowledge required when working in a counselling or welfare role with school students. The framework of this subject includes approaches to counselling, student engagement research and intervention. Students engage in research and reflection on issues of school engagement, truancy, and resilience. We examine the systematic investigation programs and strategies of intervention. Pre-service teachers develop an understanding of the welfare role and the strategies and practical skills to implement intervention programs.
