Subject outline
In this subject, purposes and methods of educational research and methodological problems associated with rival approaches are considered. The selection and definition of a research problem, conducting literature reviews and writing of a research proposal are addressed. Principles and practices of empirical research, experimental, quasi-experimental and ex post facto research, coding, analysis of numeric data and statistical procedures are also examined. Ethical development of research and compliance with ethics committee approval is addressed. Case study designs, techniques associated with ethnographic research, coding, analysis and interpretation of textual data will is an integral part of this unit.
