Subject outline
The focus of this subject is the student's transition from being a pre-service teacher to a graduate teacher. The subject is organised around themes of essential professional knowledge embodied in the Professional Standards for teachers with a particular focus on Victoria. Topics examined include educational work sites; planning; teacher recruitment practices; performance management; industrial environment; public sector and legislative requirements; strategies for involving, and working effectively, sensitively and confidentially with parents/carers; employment conditions, career planning; mentoring, induction and the development of supportive networks. Students are encouraged to create and manage innovative ideas, through developing an innovative opportunity and illustrating their ability to create innovation in an educational setting.

Special conditions The online instance (W48-W08) is only open to students enrolled in EBEL. To demonstrate successful completion of the subject and to meet professional standards, students are required to complete and pass each assessment task to a minimum 50%.
