Subject outline

This subject provides pre-service teachers with a firm grounding in the threshold knowledge required for working with interdisciplinary curricula and integrated learning. The focus is on developing understandings of what interdisciplinary education is, how has it been done in education systems in the past, how it is currently managed, and how could it be done in the future. Students develop understandings about the theories and practices associated with the creation and management of, and assessment within, learning programs and environments that place specific emphasis on integrated and interdisciplinary learning. The subject is structured around activities that enable students to make links between theoretical concepts about interdisciplinary curricula and learning and practical applications of these in teaching.
