Subject outline
In this subject students develop an understanding of Indigenous education in Australian schools. Students examine the cultural, political, social, economic, and health issues that impact on Indigenous children and identify similarities and differences with other First People's experiences from around the world. They also explore educational strategies and pedagogy to support Indigenous children and maximise learning outcomes. Additionally students investigate teaching Indigenous Studies in classrooms in order to promote positive attitudes in all communities and apply Indigenous cultural protocols when teaching and working with Indigenous students and community.
