Subject outline
This subject is an introduction to music theatre practice and a range of different forms of performance with music. Topics will include the artistic works of music theatre such as Sondheim, the politics of musicals, the use of music in theatre, audience engagement, creating original music. Two studio presentations will be developed from class work and there will be one final performance with the whole class. Students will be expected to research and reflect on music theatre through an essay and dramaturgical review.
