Subject outline
Students will gain real world experience related to their chosen profession through a work integrated learning placement. Placements are self-sourced by the students and should relate to personal and/or professional skills students wish to develop to better prepare them for the remainder of their course and their future career in healthcare. Students will self-assess then choose a work integrated learning placement that aligns with their individual learning goals. Students will reflect upon their placement experience through the development of a professional portfolio. The subject involves online resources, face-to-face orientation workshops, with the majority of time (100 hours) spent off campus undertaking the placement. Students with volunteering experience in the previous 12 months may apply to the Subject Coordinator for recognition of prior learning for the placement time only.
