Evidence based practice is the use of best available evidence combined with patient preferences, available resources and therapist expertise in making decisions about the care of patients. Evidence based health care requires the physiotherapist or exercise physiologist to be able to perform the five steps of evidence based practice. In this subject students will build on the skills developed in HLT2IEP in the production of a written Critically Appraised Topic (CAT) for publication in a web-based clinical resource based in their clinical school. This resource will be peer reviewed, with the students further applying their EBP skills in order to critically appraise the work of other students. In this manner they will further develop the necessary skills to perform evidence based practice, while gaining a greater understanding of the peer review process and contributing to a valuable evidence based resource within their clinical school.
