EXHIBITING CULTURE B
HUS3ECB
2016
Credit points: 15
Subject outline
This subject extends the engagement in and with the curatorial space, in conjunction with La Trobe's exclusive partnerships with nationally and internationally renowned Galleries, as a way to transform learning. The experience of a unique, curated exhibition is contextualized with a range of arts disciplines and creative practices, such as art history, archaeology, law, textual studies, education and politics. Attending to the experience of the exhibition is a way to critically question how it is curated; what types of knowledge does it produce; by what criteria can an exhibition be evaluated, and how successful is this exhibition as a whole? This subject consolidates the immersive experience with relevant contemporary and historic lectures, learning involvements and creative activities. Attendance is required at the particular location in which the partner Gallery is located, for the 5-6 day face-to-face component. This location may vary from instance to instance, so students should consult with the subject coordinator or follow this link to check the website for further details: http://www.latrobe.edu.au/humanities/study/accredited-subjects.
