Subject outline
The relationships between design and industry are explored in Design Studies 2.Students investigate design practices in advertising, publishing, editorial and information design. Design projects are developed from industry-based briefs that introduce students to critical and experimental approaches to design thinking. By exploring different approaches to composition, spatial layout, scale, placement, structure, colour, texture, form and image, students build a foundation for critical design thinking and reflective evaluation to creative work in the field. Working in design teams and critical feedback is applied to projects to develop collaborative design practices.
