In this subject, tourism will take the form of a journey through a cultural landscape, investigating the ways in which tourism interacts with, and is informed by, Australian culture, history, heritage and perceptions of national identity. After a general introduction to cultural tourism, the tourism landscape of Australia will be explored through an examination of the major historical eras. The impacts of each era will be investigated in terms of cultural memory, cultural resources and tourism product, and supported by case studies and a site visit.
