Subject outline
In this unit students majoring in Politics who have nearly completed their degree are encouraged to reflect upon what they have learned about the discipline, consolidate their knowledge and skills and explore the practical application of these skills to the world beyond the university. Through a series of dynamic, action-oriented readings, lectures and seminars, students will survey, analyse and discuss different traditions, behaviours and practices in the discipline and the world of work. Topics covered include political communication (written, visual and oral), political leadership, negotiation and political activism. Students will be assessed on a variety of activities and tasks including their ability to produce a piece of written political communication, a short piece of political analysis, lead an online group discussion, a group-based project on political activism as well as oral and visual presentations in class.

- Activities:
- Students will read political texts and discuss them in seminars to expand their critical, creative problem-solving and report-writing skills. They will demonstrate this knowledge through a written report.

02. Produce a major political communication project
- Activities:
- Students will work throughout semester individually and in groups towards producing a major piece of political communication, which contains written, visual and spoken form.

03. Produce written work that contributes meaningfully to critical discussions and debates about the discipline of politics and the nature of political work , including the various theories, methodologies and practical skills associated with such work
- Activities:
- Students will read a variety of texts aimed at identifying and evaluating the characteristics of politics and political work. Students will participate in seminar discussions on the discipline and the nature of political work. They will produce written assignments that demonstrate their critical, analytical, methodological and theoretical skills.
