Subject outline
This subject is divided into a number of modules including: Module 1 -Advanced Interventions skills with families and wider systems (10cp) Module 2 - Working systemically with adolescents (5cp), Module 3 - Let's Talk about children (5cp), Module 4 - Single Session Family Consultation (10cp) , Module 5 - Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) family sensitive practice (10cp) , Module 6 - Child's Play (5cp), Module 7 - No Bullshit therapy (5cp), Module 8 - Managing difference & conflict in family meetings (5cp). Each module is completed with an assignment designed to assist you in extending your knowledge and practice in family work. You can take any combination which makes up 15cp (max. 20cp). If you have already completed one or more of these workshops you can complete the relevant assessment within this study period.

01. Integrate systemic theory and practice to apply advanced interventions skills effectively with a range of specific presenting issues and areas of family work.

- Module workshops on specific areas of family work, online resources, activities and readings.
02. Module 1- Advanced Intervention skills with families and wider systems (10cp) Integrate systemic, theory and practice to effectively respond to issues of grief, loss and trauma impacting families.
- Activities:
- Online resources, activities and readings. Attendance at Bouverie's two-day workshop.
03. Module 2- Working systemically with adolescents (5cp) Identify develop and communicate key strategies for engaging both the adolescent and their parents in therapeutic work
- Activities:
- Readings and attendance at Bouverie's one-day workshop.
04. Module 3. Let's talk about children (5cp) Initiate, implement and evaluate skills to engage parents with mental illness in strengths based conversations about the impact of their mental illness on their children and family relationships.
- Activities:
- Online reading & activities & participation in a Google Hangout session
05. Module 4 - Single Session Family Consultations (10cp) Generate, implement and evaluate skills and processes to effectively facilitate single session family meetings.
- Activities:
- Readings and attendance at Bouverie's two-day workshop.
06. Module 5 - Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) family sensitive practice (10cp) Initiate, implement and evaluate skills for effective work with families impacted by Acquired Brain Injury
- Activities:
- Online resources and readings & attendance at Bouverie's two-day workshop.
07. Module 6 - Child's Play (5cp) Initiate, implement and evaluate skills in the use of creative techniques when working with children in the context of family work.
- Activities:
- Readings and attendance at Bouverie's one-day workshop
08. Module 7 - No Bullshit Therapy (NBT) (5cp) Initiate, implement and evaluate skills in the use of NBT when working with families.
- Activities:
- Readings and attendance at Bouverie's one day workshop
09. Module 8 - Managing difference and conflict in family meetinngs (5cp) Initiate, implement and evaluate skills in the effective management of conflict when meeting with families.
