Subject outline
This subject introduces students to the financial operations of firms in an environment of open and integrated financial markets. Today, we are living in a highly globalised and integrated world economy. An understanding of international financial management is crucial not only for the large multinational corporations (MNCs) with numerous foreign subsidiaries, but also for companies with no international business due to the need for an understanding of how foreign competitors are affected by movements in exchange rates, foreign interest rates, labour costs and inflation. In this subject, students will be asked to examine the theoretical and empirical explanations of such effects, and to analyse the institutional and practical issues in firms.
