Subject outline
Through lectures, practical sessions and field work, students learn about a wide range of disabilities, including the aetiology, diagnosis and prognosis of the specific condition. Students gain knowledge about the most common types of disabilities and cite ways to adapt activities and determine categories of placement for children with disabilities. In addition, students study how to cater for the interests, needs and abilities of individuals with disabilities when planning and implementing physical and outdoor education programs in the regular and special school setting and recreation programs in the community.
