Subject outline

This subject provides advanced applications of CAD in civil engineering projects in areas of steel, reinforced and concrete structures; urban and rural roads construction; and reticulations systems. Topics covered in this subject include: producing multi-view and multi-scale drawings; re-orientation of the coordinate system; linking and viewing drawings from different disciplines; construction of assembly drawings to the relevant Australian standards; create entities in 3-D drawings; CAD software and problem solving; graphical presentation and technical reporting. Studying through these topics will enable students to apply technological knowledge, problem solving skills, established software and procedures in CAD systems in the practice of civil engineering design and management. Students will be able to interpret and comply with Australian Drawing Standards in producing various forms of drawings in civil structural and construction engineering.
