Topics in this unit include, Retosynthetic analysis, Synthesis with diethylmalonate and ethylacetoacetate, general structure of acids and ketones from diethylmalonate and ethylacetoacetate, stereospecific synthesis, synthesis and reactions, heterocyclic which include synthesis of the heterocyclic five, six and fused rings, pharmaceutical examples, advanced spectroscopy including two dimensional NMR and mass spectrometry.
