LGBTIQA+ Ally and Bystander Training

LGBTIQA+ Ally and Bystander Training is designed to help our community better understand the lived experience of LGBTIQA+ staff and students.

Would you like to assist staff and students feel more welcomed and involved at La Trobe? Prevention and Inclusion have developed the ALLY Program to create a more diverse and inclusive culture and greater visibility as well as awareness of the issues facing lesbian, gay, bisexual, pansexual, transgender, non-binary, intersex, queer, questioning and asexual (LGBTIQA+) students and staff.

Training will cover the following:

  • understanding commonly used terms
  • experiences of young people from the LGBTIQA+ community
  • recognising and responding to homophobia
  • creating an inclusive culture and providing support
  • valuing and celebrating LGBTIQA+ people and culture.

We are asking staff and students from across the organisation to join the program as an ALLY. You will be able to offer information, referrals, and support to LGBTIQA+ students and staff.
