Compulsory professional experience placements undertaken for academic credit in a school, early learning or education and care setting.
We offer professional experience placements for students with compulsory placement components in their course. The placements are organised by staff members in the Placement Operations team with local, regional, and cultural education partners. These placements give you the opportunity to work in a supportive educational setting, integrating theory with practice, and developing the skills and experience you will need as a teacher once you have graduated. They are organised to meet the requirements for teacher registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching.
Before you go on your first placement you will be required to obtain a Working With Children Check. You will also need to undertake the La Trobe University Child Safe Standards Training, accessible to students enrolled in an education course. A La Trobe login is required.
We offer the opportunity for rural and interstate placements.
Grants may apply to rural placements. Grant details are posted on the Learning Management System (LMS) as they become available.
We provide you with the essential information relating to placements on the student’s Learning Management System (LMS), under the Professional Experience tab. A La Trobe login is required.
