Staff Self Service Password Reset Tool
The Staff Self Service Password Reset Tool, a self-service online password reset system, allows you to reset your La Trobe staff password from a web browser once you have registered. This can also be used if your password has expired by clicking on the Forgot My Password link.
Important!
We strongly recommend you restart your computer after changing your password to avoid being prompted to re-enter your password for SSO integrated applications.
When resetting your password, you must enter your username using the format <username>@ltu.edu.au
How else can I change my password?
If you know what your existing password is, you can change your password via one of the following options:
-
The "Portal" method
Available on any computer that has internet access.
-
The "Control-Alt-Delete" method
Available on any University owned Windows computer that is logged on with either a La Trobe staff or student account and the computer is connected to La Trobe University's network.
-
The "System Preferences" method
The preferred option for any University owned Mac computer that is logged on with either a La Trobe staff or student account and the computer is connected to La Trobe University's network. If you are off campus, you can connect via VPN to use this method.
Note: If you are using a personally owned computer you must use the Self Service Password Reset Tool. Click Reset your password (above).
Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
Multi-Factor Authentication is an additional step to verify your identity when using La Trobe applications. It prevents anyone, besides you, from gaining access to your account, even if they’ve stolen your password.
How do I register for Multi-Factor authentication?
To setup and register for Multi-Factor authentication, please refer to the MFA User Guide.
