Meet our students
I was born in South Sudan and came to Australia in 2006 from a refugee camp in Kenya where I lived from 1998. We came to Australia from a war-torn country for a better life and safe environment where our lives will not be restricted by war and violence. I really enjoy multiculturalism in Shepparton and the opportunities that are available to people. It is a supportive environment. Shepparton Campus is awesome – lecturers, as well as other staff such as counsellors, are easily accessible to talk to. I like studying in a small campus – it is easy to get around and is a friendly environment and not too overwhelming.
On a smaller campus, you don’t feel like a number, you know a lot of faces and make good friendships. Classroom environments are pretty relaxed and class sizes are not that big so you feel comfortable to discuss things in class with your peers. We have great support like the Peer Learning Advisors, and our lecturers are easy to reach and are always happy to help before and after classes. Also, being a student ambassador builds a sense of community on campus and I enjoy being a part of that.
