Training in responding to suspected elder abuse

Thank you for your interest in our Elder Abuse Prevention Training, developed in conjunction with The Royal Melbourne Hospital, Monash Health, Peninsula Health, Western Health, and Latrobe Community Health Service, as part of the integrated model of care (IMoC) for responding to suspected elder abuse.

The Bouverie Centre was engaged by the Elder Abuse Reform Team - Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (DFFH), in response to the findings of the Royal Commission into Family Violence,  to develop a suite of training modules to build the capability of the workforce to identify and respond effectively to elder abuse. To improve ease of access, the training has been developed into self-paced online learning modules, which are hosted and provided by the DFFH.

One of the key funded components of the model is the provision of professional education for staff and partners of the five health services on how to respond to suspected elder abuse. The training is now widely offered to all health services including regions where elder abuse prevention networks (EAPNs) have been established.

The online modules are now available via the DFFH's Elder Abuse Learning Hub.

If you have any questions, please direct them to the DFFH Elder Abuse team at elder.abuse@dffh.vic.gov.au.
