The Friday ceremony, held at the Wodonga Cube, is a significant milestone for the 93 graduates, and one PhD student in their educational and life journeys. Graduations are one of the most important events in the University calendar.
La Trobe University’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Theo Farrell, said Albury-Wodonga and the other regional campuses are a unique and vital aspect of the University.
“Our regional campuses are places where we develop ideas, solve problems and work with industry and, here, at our Albury-Wodonga campus our staff, students and alumni are having an impact on the world and community,” Professor Farrell said.
“The graduation ceremony marks the culmination of years of study and contributions to the community, as well as representing the beginning of new opportunities as graduates advance further into their careers and become members of the global community of La Trobe alumni.”
Reflecting La Trobe’s strengths in teaching and research innovation in health and its contribution to the regional workforce, the Bachelor of Nursing cohort represented almost half of the graduating class.
Dr Guinever Threlkeld, Albury-Wodonga Head of Campus, said it has been a privilege to watch students develop the skills and knowledge needed to make an impact in their communities over the past few years.
“These graduating students will play an exciting role in strengthening the workforce and vitality of their local community,” Dr Threlkeld said.
“This is a proud moment for the La Trobe community as well as for the family and friends of students joining us to celebrate their achievements.”
