La Trobe represented on new ARC Indigenous Forum

La Trobe University’s Pro Vice-Chancellor (Indigenous) Associate Professor Michael Donovan will provide expert advice to the Australian Research Council (ARC) through his appointment to the inaugural ARC Indigenous Forum.

Associate Professor Donovan said it was an honour to be selected as one of 13 members of the new Forum.

“I’m excited to be able to contribute advice about Indigenous research initiatives to this inaugural Forum, strengthening Indigenous-led and focused research,” Associate Professor Donovan said.

The Forum is made up of a cross-section of eminent Indigenous members with significant experience in research, as well as engagement with end-users of research.

It will be co-chaired by Professor Bronwyn Fredericks, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Indigenous Engagement) at The University of Queensland and Professor Barry Judd, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Indigenous) and Professor Indigenous Studies, School of Culture and Communication, University of Melbourne.

ARC Acting Chief Executive Officer, Dr Richard Johnson said the ARC Indigenous Forum was a positive and important moment for Australia’s research sector.

Members will hold the office for up to three years, with the possibility of extension for up to three more years.
