"The Autumn Cycling Classic at La Trobe University is an opportunity to showcase both upcoming and elite talent as well as provide recreation riders with a venue,” Mr Bracks said.
"I want to congratulate La Trobe as a leader in sports science and also rehabilitation research."
La Trobe Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research Development) and Director of La Trobe Sport Professor Russell Hoye said the event is about connecting cycling with the University and the wider community.
“Hosting the inaugural Autumn Cycling Classic builds on La Trobe’s commitment to opening up our campuses and sporting facilities to the wider community,” Professor Hoye said.
“It also builds on our position as a leading university for sport in Australia; from attracting students to study sport with us, spearheading new sports science research and forging key partnerships with the sports industry, to our significant investment in a major new Sports Park.”
