Career development

You said: You need more support to plan and develop your career skills.
We did: We launched the new Career Readiness Check – a quick and easy online questionnaire to help you plan your career and hone your career skills. It takes just a few minutes to complete and gives you access to personalised updates about upcoming events, programs and resources to support every stage of your career development.
You can also now attend a free Employability Expo at Melbourne (Bundoora) and Bendigo campuses. Here, you can explore career pathways, connect with top employers and learn about job opportunities, placements and graduate programs. Plus, you can get a free LinkedIn headshot and learn pro tips on making the most of your LinkedIn Profile!
Student voice
You said: You want a student-led body to represent and advocate on behalf of all La Trobe students.
We did: We established the La Trobe Student Council. This independent, student-led Council will consult with the student body and collectively advocate for student ideas and feedback, informing key decision making at the University.
This was recommended by our Students as Partners Network and is funded by your Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF). Nominations are open now until 5 pm on Thursday 17 April, so make sure you sign up to play an important part in shaping the student experience at La Trobe.
Peer connection
You said: You want new and exciting ways to meaningfully connect with your fellow students and peers.
We did: We launched the Peer Connect Hub, which brings together all the ways you can connect with your peers and build your network at La Trobe. From student clubs and societies, to volunteering and leadership opportunities or our Student as Partners Network, this is your one-stop shop for getting involved with your fellow students.
Learning resources

You said: You need easier access to resources to support your learning.
We did: We’ve improved the assistance you can get through Studiosity. All students now have access to Studiosity Plus, an AI-powered learning technology that give you fast, high-quality writing feedback so that you can make immediate improvements before submitting your work. This is available 24/7 via our Learning Management System (LMS), so you can get study support whenever you need it.
On top of this, we’ve enhanced our LMS with new templates to streamline your experience and ensure comprehensive content is always available. We’ve also continued to enhance the Library’s “digital and free” project, increasing the number of free, high-quality texts available to all students.
Campus spaces and facilities
You said: You need better spaces and equipment on campus to support your studies.
We did: We expanded Library online services hours to 9 am–6 pm and increased the opening hours of Library buildings. You can now access the Library 24/7 during semesters at the Bendigo and Melbourne (Bundoora) campuses and 8 am – midnight at the Albury-Wodonga campus.
We’re continually improving campus spaces. The Shepparton campus has already been transformed to meet workforce and community needs, and we’ve increased teaching spaces at Albury-Wodonga and Mildura with expanded clinical labs.
That’s just the beginning, with recently announced new student accommodation in Bendigo and big things are happening at our Melbourne (Bundoora) campus to deliver our University City. You’ve probably noticed the work underway across the campus, and there’s more to come over the next 10 years with $5 billion of investment in new developments, thanks to joint funding from La Trobe and the State Government.
Wellbeing support
You said: You want more accessible wellbeing services, including counselling and legal support.
We did: We’re making it easier to access counselling when you need it. We’ve adjusted our staffing to reduce appointment wait times, including introducing new case managers. We’re pleased to now offer online group counselling sessions, which are more flexible and accessible.
We’ve expanded the Health and Wellbeing Centre at our Melbourne (Bundoora) campus to create one central access point where you can speak to someone and be connected with services to suit your needs. Drop in for a range of support, including financial counselling, legal services or mental health advice. You can also explore our full range of Health and Wellbeing services online.
We’ve heard that you want to hear more about our services, so we’ll be bringing you regular updates via MyLaTrobe throughout the year. Keep an eye out for our banners and friendly faces at on-campus events like Orientation.
