Time flies, and here we are at the final stretch of Semester 2, 2024! After all the hard work, late nights and endless study sessions, we’ve made it through the lessons, challenges and assessments. Now, we’re facing the last hurdle—our final assessments or exams—before we can finally enjoy that well-deserved summer break! Here are some tips to help you power through these last few weeks.
Reward Yourself After Milestones
Final assessments and exams can feel overwhelming, especially when multiple deadlines and responsibilities—like part-time jobs or social events—are hitting all at once. It’s okay to feel tired, but don’t forget to take care of yourself. Every time you finish a major task—whether it’s completing one of your four assessments or submitting an important assignment—reward yourself! It could be something small like grabbing a coffee, indulging in your favourite treat or unwinding with a Netflix episode. Taking these mini breaks helps recharge your energy and keeps you motivated for the next challenge.
Share Your Journey with Loved Ones
During this busy time, it’s easy to lose touch with your family, partner or close friends. But isolation only adds to the stress, and we all know stress and loneliness aren’t the best combo. Make time to connect. Call your parents, chat with your partner or have dinner with a friend. Sharing what’s going on in your life—and hearing about theirs—can make you feel supported and grounded. It’s a great way to remind yourself that you’re not in this alone. Your support system is there to boost you when you need it most, and those connections will help you stay strong.
You’re Stronger Than You Think
Yes, this time of year can be tough, and yes, it’s easy to doubt yourself when the pressure is high. But remember, at La Trobe University, we’ve got your back. From ASK La Trobe and Health, Wellbeing & Inclusion services to your lecturers and even me, your student intern—we’re all here for you. Whether it’s advice, support, or just a friendly chat, we believe in you. You’ve made it this far, and you’re capable of so much more than you realise.
Take it one step at a time, stay positive and don’t hesitate to ask for help. You’ve got this!
