La Trobe University Student Council – nominations now open

The Student Council represents and advocates on behalf of all La Trobe students. 

About the Student Council 

The Council’s role is to consult with students and advocate for new ideas and innovations.

Established in 2025, the first Student Council will shape its own ongoing direction and agenda, with a broad mission to consult with the student body and collectively advocate for student ideas and feedback – both academic and non-academic – to senior university leadership. 

The Council will consist of 16 elected students. Quotas will be set to ensure the Council is representative of the diversity of all La Trobe University students and campuses. 

Nominations are now open

Nominations open Monday 31 March and close at 5.00 pm on Thursday 17 April.

Online information sessions will be held at the below dates and times. Anyone wanting to nominate for Council should attend.

Polling will open at 9.00 am, Thursday 1 May and will close 5.00 pm Friday 9 May. Eligible students will receive an email with voting instructions once polling opens.
