Autumn’s rolling in, the air’s cooler, the leaves are changing and uni life feels a little different. It’s a reminder that change isn’t just natural, it’s necessary. And honestly? That goes for friendships too.
It makes sense that your circle might shift, grow or change too. And that’s okay.
🌱 Making space for new people
Just like trees shed leaves for new growth, sometimes uni is about letting go of what’s no longer working — even socially. Maybe your O-Week group drifted, or everyone’s busy with different things. Perhaps you’re an international student finding it hard to make new connections and you’re missing your friends and family back home.
This season’s your reminder: it’s never too late to put yourself out there again.
🍁 Growth happens outside your comfort zone
The best part? Change doesn’t have to be dramatic. It can be as simple as:
✔️ Joining that club you keep meaning to try
✔️ Sitting next to someone new in class
✔️ Actually going to that event you saw on MyLaTrobe (even if you only stay for 20 minutes)
Every small “yes” plants a seed and who knows? it might grow into a friendship that sticks around long after this semester ends.
☕ Friendships evolve — and so do you
Some uni friends are for a season, and that’s normal. But there’s always room to grow your circle, find new energy, and connect with people who match where you’re at now.
🌿 Your next “yes” starts now
If there’s ever a season to embrace change, t’s autumn. Uni life moves fastbut there’s always time to stop, reset and find your people. So, take that first step and let the season do what it does best: remind you that change is where growth happens.
Feeling inspired? Check the student events calendar to see what’s happening around campus — you never know where your next “yes” might lead.
