Move for mental health this semester!

This semester from Monday 5 August to Wednesday 4 September, La Trobe sport have created the Moving for Mental Health Challenge, to support the incredible work of the R U Ok? Foundation.

There are a number of active ways to get connected within the La Trobe community and have conversations with people to support them through difficult times in their lives.

Over the course of the five-week challenge, there will be a series of movement challenges designed for all fitness levels to get our Team La Trobe community active and ready to go for the respective Team La Trobe Walk & Run events at the Melbourne and Bendigo Campuses.

1. Join the Challenge!

Running from Monday 5 August to Wednesday 4 September, La Trobe Sport invites participants (students, staff and the wider community) to represent their team by walking or running as far as possible over the 5-week campaign.

2. Take part in weekly ‘Together We Move’ sessions

On Tuesdays, we move together!

For students and staff at the Melbourne (Bundoora) Campus, join us at the Indoor Sports Centre every Tuesday (beginning Tuesday 6 August) from midday for our new ‘Together We Move’ session.

In conjunction with members of the Team La Trobe Run Club, this weekly walk and run session is a perfect opportunity to take a break, get some fresh air and connect with fellow members of the University community. Whether you’re a seasoned runner or just looking to enjoy a leisurely walk, all fitness levels are welcome to join us for a lunch time lap around our beautiful Bundoora campus. See you there!

3. Sign up for a Team La Trobe Walk and Fun Run Event

The Team La Trobe Walk & Fun Run is back in 2024!

Proudly supported by Medibank, the Team La Trobe Walk & Fun Run will once again bring La Trobe University’s Melbourne and Bendigo campuses to life as the grand finale of the Move for Mental Health Challenge.

Whether you’re based in Bundoora or Bendigo, participants at both on-campus events can take part in walk or run with colleagues and classmates around La Trobe’s picturesque campus surrounds.

The Melbourne (Bundoora) event (Thursday 5 September) will see the launch of a brand-new and improved 5km course, showcasing the stunning La Trobe Sports Park Precinct.

Enjoy the picturesque views of the Home of the Matildas, Nangak Tamboree nature reserve, our beautifully manicured sports fields and the La Trobe Sports Park Stadium, all while being cheered on at our Team La Trobe Cheer Zones!

The Bendigo Campus event (Tuesday 3 September) will feature a 1.5km loop course, where participants can challenge themselves to see how many laps they can complete within 30 minutes.

At the 30-minute mark, all participants will have the opportunity to finish their final lap before being ushered down our finishers’ chute to the grand finish line. Celebrate your achievements with colleagues and classmates in the lively Team La Trobe Zone, where you’ll be met with cheers, refreshments and a fantastic community vibe.

Whether you choose to walk or run, you’ll have a blast pushing your limits and enjoying the vibrant community atmosphere.

Don’t miss out on these exhilarating events – lace up your sneakers and join us for a memorable day of fitness and fun!
