Mental health workshops for students

Here at La Trobe, we have lots of free training for students. You can see the full training offerings on the Health and Wellbeing Training page.

Below are some upcoming free mental health workshops for students.

Anxiety Uncovered

  • Tuesday 7 November – 10 am – 12.30 pm, Online
  • Tuesday 3 December – 9.30 am – 12 pm, Online

Anxiety Uncovered is a 2.5 hour workshop that provides students with an understanding of what anxiety is, why we have it and how it can present itself in our day to day lives. The workshop covers basic strategies to help ‘switch off’ the fight/flight/freeze response in our bodies, different tools to support stepping back from our anxious thoughts and advice on being able to tolerate the experience of anxiety. By the end of the session students will have tools and resources to be able to ground themselves and seperate themselves from anxious thoughts, so that anxiety can have less control over our lives. Students will be provided with a resource pack including audio tracks and worksheets.

Mental Health Basics

  • Thursday 28 November – 10 am – 1 pm, Melbourne (Bundoora) Campus
  • Tuesday 10 December – 12.30 pm – 2.30 pm, Online

Mental Health Basics (Students) is a 3-hour training session to help increase student’s knowledge around mental health. Whether in the workplace, at home, or in social settings, Mental Health Basics empowers students to create a world where mental health is prioritised, stigma is reduced, and everyone feels valued and supported. With this training, students will be able to help build more resilient, empathetic and supportive communities and increase their employability. Mental Health Basics can also help students to recognise early signs of mental health challenges in themselves and seek support early which can help prevent personal and academic challenges. Students receive a certificate upon completion of the session and can add the training session to their resume.

If you would like more information on a session or would like to chat to the facilitator, please contact Chiara Dargin from Strategy, Education & Prevention (c.registro@latrobe.edu.au).
