LIMS1 artworks on the move as part of ongoing refurbishments

If you’re walking by the LIMS1 building over the next few months and notice something different but can’t put your finger on it, it might be the fact that the Murri Totem Poles (2013) by Reko Rennie aren’t there.

But fear not – they haven’t mysteriously disappeared! These iconic and colourful artworks will be removed this month to enable some essential waterproofing works to be undertaken on the LIMS1 forecourt. They’ll be stored safely then reinstalled in early 2025.

Following the forecourt repair works, the Hoogenraad Lecture Theatre in LIMS1 will also be refurbished.

During these works, which are scheduled to be completed in April 2025, you may experience the following impacts:

  • Increased noise throughout December from demolition works and some intermittent noise during construction in 2025.
  • No access from the forecourt stairs into Level 2 of LIMS1.
  • Temporary fencing installed around the forecourt area to keep the site safe.
  • The access path from Science Drive to the Library will remain open.
