If you have queries or concerns about a result for an assessment task that is worth 20% or more of the final grade for a subject, and the work can be reviewed, you have the right to request a review of the mark.
There are two steps to request a review of a mark:
- Initial review – ask the Original Marker of the task to review the work with you.
- Formal re-mark – if you still have concerns about the mark after having discussed the assessment task with the Original Marker or the Subject Coordinator then you may be able to apply to have the work formally re-marked by a different marker.
From Semester 1 2025, some changes have been made to this process to enable more efficient processing of assessment marking and confirmation of final subject results.
- Initial review: if you want to seek a review of an assessment, you must seek an initial review (from the Original Marker) within 7 calendar days of receiving your result.
- Formal re-mark: if, after your initial review, you wish to apply for a formal re-mark, you must submit your application within 7 calendar days of the initial review.
When you apply for a review or re-mark, you must be able to demonstrate how the assessment of your work did not follow the published criteria for the assessment.
More information about applying for a review or re-mark can be found in the Assessment Procedure – Validation and Moderation.
