In collaboration with ServiceNow and Deloitte Australia, La Trobe University’s Appathon event is a ‘hackathon-style’ opportunity for students and alumni to build scalable low-code business applications using the ServiceNow App Engine Studio. You will learn and utilise industry methods and tools for requirements gathering, design, and progress tracking.

This free event is open to La Trobe students of all majors and disciplines. You do not need to be a computer science major or in a technical field of study! By working together in teams, participants will create solutions to real-world problems while earning certifications to enhance their resumes and credit towards their Career Ready Advantage Award.

On hand will be representatives from both ServiceNow and Deloitte Australia, to mentor teams and share further insights on working for their organisations.

The top-performing teams take home:

  • Judges’ prize: $200 per team member
  • People’s Choice: $100 per team member.

If your application to participate in this Appathon is successful, you’ll be given access to two modules that require completion by Friday 23 August. They will take approximately six hours to work through, provide a framework for familiarising yourself with the ServiceNow platform and App Engine Studio, and grant you industry-grade certification upon completion.

These modules are a prerequisite for participating in the Appathon.

ELIGIBILITY

Must be a La Trobe University student or alumni from any campus, discipline or level of study.

WHY APPLY?

The ServiceNow x Deloitte Appathon provides a fun and unique opportunity for La Trobe students to enhance employability skills and cultivate an entrepreneurial mindset.

During this event, you’ll connect with experienced industry professionals and like-minded students in a supportive and collaborative environment. Here’s what you’ll learn:

Hands-On Training: Instructor-led sessions to build low-code apps and gain practical skills

Problem Solving: Develop and prototype solutions for real-world challenges

Networking: Expand your professional network by engaging with industry experts.

Students who complete the Appathon do not receive academic credit, however, they will receive recognition toward their Career Ready Advantage Award.

ABOUT SERVICENOW

As one of the world’s largest and most popular digital workflow management systems, there is currently a high demand for people with ServiceNow expertise ranging from project managers and data analysts to consultants and application developers. Currently, more than 70 per cent of the ASX200 are customers of ServiceNow, in addition to more than 100 local, state, and federal government departments and agencies.

La Trobe University and ServiceNow have joined forces to meet this need by co-designing and offering a ServiceNow Application Developer short course and opening doors to career opportunities using the ServiceNow platform.

ABOUT DELOITTE AUSTRALIA

La Trobe University and Deloitte Australia have joined forces as strategic partners to address the shortage of digital and technology skills in Australia, and more specifically regional Australia.

It comes at a critical time when the pace of technology-driven change is accelerating with the widespread adoption of Generative AI. A new Digital Operations Centre, located at La Trobe’s Bendigo campus, will be the centrepiece of the alliance. This Appathon event is an extension of this exciting new partnership.
